How often should you stretch?

Published

Two to three days a week is a useful starting point for general flexibility. Harvard Health summarizes guidance to work the major muscle-tendon groups at least that often. Frequency recommendations.

Do you need to stretch daily?

You don't need a daily streak to practice regularly. If you enjoy daily sessions, they don't all need to be long or challenging. Don't force a painful movement to preserve a streak.

Make the schedule realistic

  • Choose two or three times that already fit your week.
  • Give each session a purpose and enough time to follow instructions.
  • If you miss one, return at the next sensible opportunity.
  • Move a reminder that repeatedly arrives at an inconvenient time.

Do short sessions count?

They give you time to practice selected movements, but may not cover everything in a longer routine. Choose what you want to work on rather than rushing through the full list.

Capacity's reminders and activity heatmap help you follow your schedule. They track practice, not flexibility gains.
